As the world is "going global," local traditions are becoming erased.
As the world becomes more and more homogenized, we need to appreciate the cultural differences (traditions, food, festivals, culture, religion) that still exist.
Keeping Traditions Alive! is about connecting people with people who still celebrate holidays, festivals and other events in the traditional/cultural ways of "the past," the "old fashioned" way.
Keeping Traditions Alive! (Keeping Cultural Traditions Alive) is an offshoot of FLSAS/Foreign Language & Cultural Immersion.
I (Louise Harber) have been sending students of all ages abroad to study foreign languages for 40 years. Students of foreign languages are able to experience cultures close up.
Today's travelers/tourists frequently stay in international chain hotels that are the same in every country; they see the world through the windows of a bus and eat in restaurants that cater to satisfying the needs of the majority of the people. They are apprehensive about going off on their own.
Keeping Traditions Alive! offers options to those people who still want to experience the cultural differences that still exist and are looking to like the differences. You will not be alone; you will be able to celebrate/explore with people locally to appreciate the richness of the past.
If not now, when? Differences are disappearing.
